Although bleeding is one of the major warning signs that you may be developing gum disease there are also quite a few other symptoms that may be more subtle that you should also be on the lookout for:

- Receding gums
- Constant bad breath
- Chronic or recurring mouth sores
- Loose teeth
Usually, the earliest signs of gum disease will almost always include bleeding while you brush or floss and include swelling or tenderness. However, it’s equally important to note that your gums can begin to recede even if there is no swelling in your mouth. Being aware of any of the symptoms mentioned above is important because the earlier you identify gum disease and treat it increases your chance of reversing the negative effects that can develop as a result of bacteria developing in your mouth from gum disease.
